I woke up and checked my email, first thing……… I was surprised and more than delighted to see “YOU’RE BOOKED” in my in-box. I jumped up and down, giggling…..I thanked the Universe and squeezed my Yorkie tight while giving him a zillion kisses.

I was booked as a Bartender on a new TV pilot for Fox, and I was to be named……. Barb or Barbie as I told everyone who interacted with me at the bar, in the scene…

We shot the episode this past Wednesday at a little hole in the wall. A place called Churchhills, in North Miami.

.”My” tent on set, last Wednesday was deserted and boring- so I wandered over to the “Others” tent. So what! Who cares! I did change in the wardrobe truck though…. not where everyone else changes. (okay- so I have a thing about open changing rooms- read my Yelp review about how I feel about that-

In all, had a great day, met a cool make-up artist and the two lead characters of the show were actually quite nice with me and joked around with me a-lot more as soon as they discovered they had small dialogue with me. one of them was this insanely beautiful model, who had “Do not Resuscitate” tattooed across her chest.

The bar was quite….um….. seedy. That’s the bast way to describe it. These are not photos from day of the production- but they are photos from the bar side. I think they have since, installed a new bar top and cleaned out some of the extra clutter along the walls. Overall, it’s the same look and you’ll be able to no see this in the episode in April.
In the show, it’s set out to be a biker bar- so- that’s EXACTLY how it looks in the scene. Run down- low down hang out for bikers.

The great thing about Florida is… I’ve worked more here, than I did while I was in Los Angeles, and I worked in Los Angeles –ALOT. I did an obscene amount of print, catalog and ad’s in Los Angeles and a lot of commercials and direct to SyFy TV and other Horror movie films that went directly to Blockbuster and Netflix as well. The great thing is, Florida is where I seem to conquer EVERY audition and call back I get. That’s why I won’t move back to Los Angele permanently………..yet.

I find that the cost of living is better here- the air is MUCH cleaner.

However, I do miss my Runyon Canyon hikes, Crunch Fitness, my FEW close close close friends whom I allowed into my life (I kept a VERY small close circle of people whom I narrowed down to be trustworthy- and in LA- that list is VERY easy to narrow down and become VERY small). I don’t miss the traffic, the dirty polluted air, the pompous wanna be producers and directors and casting directors who will not give you a part on their soap opera because you pissed off their best friend by NOT having dinner with him.  I don’t miss how every newspaper being slanted towards the Democratic Party (Slanted news reporting? It gets OLD guys!) and I don’t miss the street parking situation in Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
I do miss Starbucks on Melrose Ave.

Hopefully something becomes of this new Pilot and later on- they find a spot for me. I only talked to the director a total of 15-20 minutes tops, while he was telling me what he wanted to see from me in the scene and what to say to the main lead actors in the scene-

It’s airs in April- and I’ll update more about it then.
